TRUSTED LEADER, FOCUSED ON FUNDAMENTALS

As your Deputy Mayor...

I have not, nor would I ever vote for a tax, fee, or special assessment that would cost the average homeowner thousands of dollars a year.  We can incrementally repair our infrastructure without taking on too much debt and without taxing people out of their homes.

I believe in fiscal responsibility and we should "Focus on the Fundamentals," especially infrastructure and public safety.

I successfully championed for realistic solutions and initiated aggressive measures in 2017 to address our decades-old infrastructure challenges.

Together, we will: repair our existing culverts/roads; repair & responsibly expand our existing utilities;  reduce our traffic congestion by completing the St Johns Heritage Parkway and a new southern Interstate 95 interchange; and redevelop our historic "Bay."

Roads, drainage and water/sewer are core responsibilities of our limited government.

Public Safety is a top priority!  I am dedicated to hiring more firefighters & police officers, to ensure an effective level-of-service to our growing population.  I am dedicated to providing the necessary equipment (e.g. vehicles, facilities, call center, etc) to keep our public safety professionals safe, while they keep us safe.  Morale, retention and recruitment is important to an effective and efficient department -- so my platform includes fair & competitive salaries/benefits for our hometown heroes.

I will continue Economic Development initiatives to include, but not limited to: attracting new businesses to our existing strip-malls; attract manufacturing/high-tech jobs through proper planning, zoning, and workforce development; create an environment for private-sector investment for additional retail/dinning/cultural arts opportunities -- collectively and ultimately expanding our commercial & industrial tax-base, so that we can continue to cut our property tax rate.

When it comes to integrity and ethics, your government officials and employees must be held to the highest of standards.  I will not tolerate unethical or corrupt behavior, period.  I spearheaded the county's first anti-corruption municipal personnel policy (Resolution 2017-22; Adopted May 18th, 2017) requiring receipt & acknowledgement of new ethical and legal standards for public officials and employees, consistent with state legislative revisions in 2016.  I spearheaded and continue to pursue mandatory lobbyist registration (Ordinance 2018-24; passed August 2nd, 2018), as well as regulations and disclosures -- aimed at those who wish to influence your government.  I led the successful mandate that members of the our CRA (Community Redevelopment Agency) meet ethics training requirements.

These are but a sample of my efforts to ensure an honest and transparent government for you.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t on the City Council when the 2010 Waste Management Contract was signed.  As we renegotiate the new agreement due by 2020 – I will champion for twice-a-week trash collection, without additional fees.  If the current contractor won’t negotiate in good faith or follow the current rules, I will push for a new contractor.

I will continue to champion for a new private-sector funded hospital and/or birthing center built here in Palm Bay (our existing community hospital does not have maternity services) -- so we can truly foster a new generation of "Palm Bayers."
